The Power of Our Stories
We all have them. Our stories define us, for better… or not. This is the story of me. And of you. Of each of us as individuals and of all of us together.
From my earliest memories, I’ve felt drawn to understanding our internal stories – the scripts we live by – and to supporting and uplifting others as they come to understand and shift their own. Our internalized stories play a vital role in how we live and how we interpret and experience our lives. And yet, few were talking about it. It was time someone did. And now, here we are.
Life taught me a powerful lesson early on – every story has two parts:
- The facts – what actually happened, unembellished by perspective or opinion.
- The story – what we tell ourselves those facts mean and what they say about us.
Stories of hope or woundedness. Stories of strength or oppression. Stories of claiming our birthright of wholeness and love – or shrinking from it. All from the same facts.
Different people can experience the same events and construct completely different stories. That means we’re not locked into whatever story we’ve concocted for ourselves. We can shift into a new one without changing the facts or pretending some things never happened or didn’t hurt.
Our past is just that – our past. It is not a life sentence. The stories of our past are not etched in stone. They are malleable.
My Approach
That’s where I come in, helping you unravel your personal narratives, offering fresh insights into life’s subtleties and complexities, and teaching you how to heal quickly and deeply from the inside out.
Breaking free from our past. Rediscovering our voices – or finding them for the first time. Re-storying our lives. Becoming free from self-doubt and self-judgment, from people-pleasing and holding ourselves back. Balancing our desires with the expectations of others. Becoming more courageous and confident.
Anything we want and don’t yet have already exists for us just outside our comfort zone. And we are continually offered two choices:
- Grow our comfort zone big enough to hold our desires.
- Shrink our desires to fit inside our current comfort zone.
There’s no right or wrong answer.
What I Believe
Just so you know, I’m no guru or purist. Being an 80/20 kind of gal suits me just fine. That 20 percent fudge factor is there for two very important reasons: treating myself and forgiving myself.
Life and love are looking for you. Are you ready to Become Found?
Who I Am
I’m Anne Wade – teacher, writer, and storyshifter. I have a B.A. in English and a M.Ed. focused on the psychology and physiology of how we learn, how our thoughts are formed, and the role played by our feelings and emotions. Whole brain, whole body, whole emotional, intuitive, energetic, and spiritual – working together as they are designed to.
Professional Experience
I formerly owned a training and organizational development company, working mostly with major industry, then expanding to nonprofits and women-owned businesses, and eventually moving exclusively into teaching and coaching women.
That may seem like an odd progression, but the common thread through it all has always been growth, development, and healing of the individual. Our personal work not only matters to us individually, it also ripples out into our careers, circumstances, relationships, and the world at large.
I once told a division head for a household-name company that his business could only grow to the degree he was willing to grow, develop, and heal himself. I truly believe the healing and growth of our world begins with each of us doing our own personal work. And he agreed.
Numerous certifications in the psychology and physiology of learning, teaching and training, as well as healing modalities like EFT, NLP, and Reiki and my own lived experience have been the backbone of my work.
I’m a reading junkie. Louise Penny, Donna Leon, Ann Patchett, Pat Conroy, Fredrik Bachman, and Richard Osman are just a few of my favorite authors. Southern Living magazine is always on my kitchen table. I also love cooking, digging in the dirt, playing with paint, concerts ranging from classical to classic rock, plus walking and hiking. And theater! Just so you know, I love musical theater and will not apologize!
I am a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, colleague, writer, teacher, storyworker, and intrepid explorer.
Delighted to meet you.
