"Our real blessings often appear to us in the shape of pains, losses, and disappointments; but let us have patience and we soon shall see them in their proper figures.” ~ Joseph Addison
One of my favorite topics for journaling and writing in general is The Alchemy of Adversity. That's because no one likes being in the fire (Are you nuts???), but everyone loves the results.
Through all that writing, I have learned one powerful trick. The sooner we lovingly ask what it's all about and invite the wisdom and honing to reveal themselves, the sooner we can get through it and fly away like the Phoenix, even if it's with singed wings.
Am I always able to remember this in the moment of agony and do it quickly? Heck no! But even if it takes a moment or two to remember, even if I sometimes forget, once remembered and applied, it slices the time of suffering and speeds the moment of new enlightenment. And the more I practice lovingly remembering, the more I remember and apply. And awaken. What a lovely little circle of Life.
